One of the most important sources of traditional culture in Romania, Bulgaria, unknown and undiscovered, is the Roma culture. Unfortunately, only a few studies have been conducted on this minority culture and, as far as we know, it has not developed a common strategy for harnessing this culture into tourism products. All people agree that the Roma have an impressive culture with beautiful songs, dances, stories, etc. But nobody has seen in these traditional treasures the ability to produce sustainable tourism products and promote the region. It is time to interpret the traditional culture of the Roma ethnicity and to put new challenges on cross-border maps for tourists.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the sustainable use of cultural heritage by capitalizing on traditional Roma culture in tourism products. By “Discovering the Treasures of the Roma” studies will be developed that will present the main branches of the Roma culture and the specific characteristics of each branch.
